Have you ever experienced God’s favor first hand? If you are not sure, here are four evidences of God’s favor in your life.
First, there is the Abiding Presence of God. God’s presence abides with you when you are experiencing God’s favor in your life.
Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My father will love him and we will come to him, and make our home with him.” – John 14:23 (NIV)
When God’s presence abides in you and with you, that is evidence of God’s favor. When you walk confidently in obedience to what God has for you, that is evidence of God’s favor. When you are able to say, “This is where God wants me to be today, and I know He wants to do something great. When I see it, I am ready to follow His lead and acknowledge that God did it.” That’s what walking in God’s favor is about. It is understanding that He is there and doing a work within you.
Second, the fingerprints of God are left on the lives of others. When you are walking in God’s favor, the fingerprints of God are left on the lives of others that you contact.
But Laban said to Jacob, “If I have found favor in your eyes, please stay. I have learned by divination that the Lord has blessed me because of you.” – Genesis 30:27 (NIV)
God’s fingerprints were all over Jacob and his activities. Jacob happened to be near Laban. He was, after all, married to Laban’s daughters. In this particular instance when Jacob was planning to move on, Laban said, “Please don’t go. Please stay, because when you stay good things happen. You know, if I could get just a little bit to rub off on my shirt, good things happen.” Because Jacob had God’s favor, Laban enjoyed the benefits of God’s favor.
When you are walking in God’s favor, the fingerprints of God are left on the lives of others. I’m sure you’ve been around those people. You’ve been around those people who have God’s favor, and, when you are around them, you just feel a little something extra from God. You think, “I’ve got to stay with them. Where are they going? Let’s follow them.” It’s because they have God’s favor on them; God’s fingerprints are all over them and on those around them.
Third is Personal Refreshing. When you have God’s favor in your life, there’s personal refreshing that He gives you with the strength to carry on.
A king’s rage is like the roar of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass. – Proverbs 19:12 (NIV)
Have you ever walked through really thick grass early in the morning? Your shoes just get soaked. Have you ever been out to the local soccer fields for an early soccer game on a Saturday morning? Have you gone out to see your grandkids or one of your kids playing? Or maybe you are one of the coaches and you walk through that really thick grass. You get soaked all the way to your toes. Your shoes, your socks, everything is soaked because that dew is so heavy so thick. But that dew comes on the grass because it’s refreshing. That dew cools the grass. It’s what the grass needs to be refreshed and renewed. God does the same thing for us. When His favor is on us, His favor is like dew on the grass. It brings personal refreshing.
Finally, the work of your hands is blessed. Whatever you put your hands to under God’s direction is blessed.
When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the alien, the fatherless and the widow so that the Lord your God may bless you and all the work of your hands. – Deuteronomy 24:19 (NIV)
God is blessing you to such a great extent that when you overlook something or leave something behind it’s because God wants to use that overabundance as a blessing for someone else. The work of your hands is so blessed, so huge, so great that God wants to use your super-abundance to bless someone else. Let your overabundance be a blessing to others because God’s favor is on your work. God’s favor is on the work of your hands. God’s favor is in your life.
